Amber and John were so thrilled to discover they were expecting twins in March of 2011. It had been an uneventful pregnancy until week 28 when Amber was admitted to the hospital to stop an early labor.

She spent six weeks on bed rest alternating between home and the hospital. At 34 weeks pregnant, Amber had to deliver Charlotte and Audrey at 4lbs. 6ozs. and 5 lbs. 2ozs.

Charlotte had a few issues as an infant with horrible reflux, feeding therapy, a helmet, and braces on her legs to learn to walk.

But in true preemie fashion, she was a fighter and overcame all her challenges. Both Charlotte and Audrey are healthy and thriving today.

“I am so thankful for the advances made by the March of Dimes that allowed my girls those precious six weeks of time to grow and develop in utero. While they were early and tiny, they were strong. We were blessed. I will continue to raise money for March of Dimes because I feel I owe my girls’ very life to them and I never want another mother to have to look back on the birth of their children with sadness or fear.” – Amber Vongsamphanh, 2016 Rutherford County Ambassador Mom
